Use an official taxi when you want to go admire the northern lights

It is the safest choice

When you want a safe ride to go admire the northern lights, the best choice is an official taxi, that among other things has valid insurance. Lapland’s taxi entrepreneurs have learned the art of driving safely in any weather. The taxis of Saariselkä are capable of driving in extreme weathers, such as over 35 degrees of freezing cold or through thick snow.

Taxi entrepreneur Briitta Pajari drives a taxi in Saariselkä. She has operated around the mountains of Lapland over 20 years. The taxist considers her work meaningful, as she gets to work with people.

Taxi drivers as guides

The taxi station for taxi entrepreneurs in the Saariselkä area is found on the downstairs of the shopping center Kuukkeli. Most of the drivers are locals and therefore have a very solid local knowledge. Thus, taxi drivers act as guides, if necessary, for example during northern light trips.

The pricing is unregulated

The prices of taxi fares are unregulated and the transport company itself can determine the fares. The customer must be informed of the basics of the total price or of the total price of the trip before the start of the journey, regardless of whether the customer has ordered a taxi by phone, application, or from a station.

The new law amendment has not affected the pricing of Saariselkä taxi fares, but driving goes on as before, mostly with a taximeter.
