Petri Laaksonen performs melodic and life-embracing Finnish songs in Saariselkä Church
Singer-composer Petri Laaksonen has released thirteen solo albums, several compilation albums as well as themed albums. Many of his records have won awards. Described as a significant cultural landmark at the turn of the last decade, Laaksonen’s songs use the texts of Finnish classical poets (eg Eino Leino and Kaarlo Sarkia) on the album Vanha laulu.
Petri Laaksonen feels that he is first and foremost a live performer, where contact with the audience gives power to both the listener and the singer. For a quarter of a century, a career as a performing artist and the experience of a lifetime of joy and sorrow have given Laaksonen’s interpretations even more convincing touch and depth.
Laaksonen’s melodic and life-embracing songs, combined with strong and soulful interpretation, have touched many Finns.
The programme of the concert Here Under the North Star contains many gems from Laaksonen’s extensive repertoire.
Petri Laaksonen will perform at Saariselkä Church in two concerts in March: Tuesday 24.3. and Tuesday 31.3. Both begin at 7pm.
